Adrian
Provenance. Forme anglo-saxonne d'Adrien. Vient du latin "Adria" ville qui donna son nom à la mer Adriatique. Se fête le 8 septembre.
Histoire. Officien païen à la cour impériale de Nicomédie, Adrien avait la charge de garder les prisonniers chrétiens pendant les persécutions de l'empereur Dioclétien, au IVème siècle. Avec sa soeur Nathalie, il se laisse catéchiser par eux et demande le baptême. Ils furent tous les deux martyrisés en 304. Adrien est le patron des soldats et des bouchers. Une basilique lui est dédiée à Rome.
Caractère. D'allure un peu hautaine et sévère, ce sont des êtres de fort tempérament. Ils ne sont pas sauvages, mais aiment garder leur distance. Sûrs d'eux-mêmes, ambitieux, travailleurs acharnés, rien ne les arrête lorsqu'ils se sont fixé un but. Ils ont le goût du pouvoir et le sens des responsabilités. Hommes de conviction, ils défendent leurs intérêts avec acharnement.
